OnTheMountain Pro runs both ski and snowboard BASI GAP year instructor courses.
In 2012, we will have a maximum of
20 places on our ski intstructor training courses, and 10 places for our snowboard instructor courses. Courses have a 10-week duration,
starting on Monday 16 January 2012 (accommodation is available from 8 January),
and ending on Friday 23 March 2012.
Accommodation is available for a further 3 weeks, until Saturday 15 April 2012.
Coaching and tuition takes place
from
Monday to Friday, leaving the weekends free. Daytimes are primarily on-snow time, with lectures and tutorials in the evening.
During your time with OnTheMountain Pro you will receive intensive BASI training and coaching in all aspects of your chosen discipline (skiing or snowboarding), culminating in taking your
BASI 2 assessment in the last two weeks of the GAP year course. Best of both worlds… We run the
BASI course alongside our professional ski school so that you benefit from the contact and shared knowledge with not only BASI Instructors & Trainers but also with our top qualified local ski and snowboard instructors.
This enables us to offer training elements that are over and above those stipulated within the standard BASI requirements. This includes more extensive
freeride training with particular
emphasis on safety, providing the foundation for the type of training appropriate to become a mountain guide.
We’ll introduce you to the
skills and knowledge that form the basis of becoming a ski patroller (safety, avalanche training, first aid) and include
environmental awareness seminars – an important part of life in our spectacular mountains.
And we’re uniquely positioned to provide our
‘How to run a ski resort business’ course, as well as giving you the opportunity to learn and/or brush up your French language skills.
All included… All this is included as an integral part of your time with
OnThemountain Pro – we aim to have no hidden extras or nasty surprises!
… and for snowboarders We benefit from the
partnership we have built
with Burton, including
the first ever Burton progression snow park in Europe. We’re the only snowboard school that offers
the Burton LTR (Learn To Ride ) methods (for kids, freestyle, women and adults).
